Columbia Fireflies


Mason is the Columbia Fireflies mascot. The team plays in Columbia, South Carolina and is a member of the South Atlantic League. The are an affiliate of the New York Mets. Home games are played in Spirit Commuications Park.

Mason is a fun loving Firefly that has travelled from Congaree National Park to be a part of our baseball team. He loves cheering on his fellow Columbia Fireflies!

On the outskirts of Columbia, South Carolina, a furry creature of the “Whatsit” family wandered through the forest cold and alone. Late at night, he arrived at Congaree National Park.

What he encountered there amazed him. He saw a synchronized, pulsating glow of separate lights that seemed to beckon him. When he approached one, he realized what he was seeing. He was in the middle of a large group of synchronized fireflies. Surrounded by their warm glow, he knew immediately that this was where he belonged.

The fireflies adopted him as one of their own and over time he earned his wings. The fireflies called him “Mason” because, just as so many of them had found a home in Mason jars, he had found a home with them. With the Columbia Fireflies coming to town, Mason has emerged from his forest home to help bring the joy he found with the fireflies to the entire Midlands region.

The team plays in Northern Division of the International League and is the affiliate of the New York Yankees. They play in PNC Field, a 10,000 baseball stadium. Striker is the Florida Fire Frogs mascot. The Frogs are a member of the Florida State League in Kissimmee, Florida, part of the Greater Orlando metropolitan area. Founded in 2017, the team is an affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. They play their home games at Osceola County Stadium. Striker the Fire Frog has served as the mascot for the Florida Fire Frog, an affiliate of the Atlanta Braves located in Central Florida, since 2017. He has been known for his crazy antics around Osceola County Stadium. “Central Florida's favorite amphibian” was originally found by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission at Lake Tohopekaliga.
