Spike is the mascot for the Round Rock Express, a team in the Pacific Coast League. They are an affiliate of the Houston Astros and are located in Round Rock, Texas. They play their home games at Dell Diamond.
Spike is always excited to entertain the crowd at his beloved ballpark. You're probably wondering how a dog like Spike ended up at a baseball stadium. Well, with a little luck and a well-timed jump off a Union Pacific boxcar, Spike landed in Round Rock, the Sports Capital of Texas. The Express were just getting started and needed someone to help entertain all the fans.
Whether it is taking pictures, leading the Kids Club on the field for parades or pulling a prank or two, Spike always brings the fun to every Express home game. When he doesn't have his paws in the community, he is leading rallies in the bottom of the ninth inning or teaching someone how to floss on the dugouts, all in the time it takes most dogs to chew a bone. He is always ready to brighten any fan's day!
Spike always had a fascination with trains. His childhood dream was to be the conductor of a Union Pacific train. His favorite TV show was Thomas the Train. Being a dog, his favorite sport to watch, aside from baseball, is the Westminster Dog Show. When asked what was his best childhood memory was he said, “The best home a dog could ask for is Dell Diamond.” Being a dog, his favorite band/singer is Snoop Dogg.
